NORTHCOAST BIG BAND DAZZELS NEW YEAR’S EVE
PARTY-GOERS AT MOHICAN LODGE AND CONFERENCE CENTER
Despite the cold and snowy weather conditions outside, the New Year’s Eve
party inside the Mohican Lodge and Conference Center in Perrysville, Ohio
was fired-up for an evening of year-end celebration, dining and dancing to the
magnificent Big Band program created just for this event.
From the opening tune of the popular A String of Pearls, the audience knew they were going to experience an evening of big band music spanning over seven decades of everyone’s favorite standards all from the Great American Song Book.

The beautiful Barbara Rosene provided the immediate connection with the audience through her elegance and vocal
artistry shared with every tune. Instantly recognized for her
wonderful musical connections with the Harry James Orchestra,
The Glenn Miller Orchestra and having performed throughout the New York and L.A markets, she captivated the entire audience.
What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? was her opening tune letting
everyone know they are in for a magical evening of music.
The Big Band standards always get everyone out on the
dance floor. Three of the most beautiful solos were
showcased by 1st Trumpet Eric Holler on the Hoagy
Carmichael favorites, STARDUST and THE NEARNESS OF
YOU, supported by Karl Dustman on Vibraphone. Eric’s
features also included THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT in the
final set.
The Big Band standards always get everyone out on the
dance floor. Three of the most beautiful solos were
showcased by 1st Trumpet Eric Holler on the Hoagy

The versatility of the five member Saxophone Section allows
The band to perform many different tastes of music and
styles. The Glen Osser arrangement of I’LL NEVER SMILE
AGAIN showcased the clarity and intonation of a professional
section all working together. A Trombone solo by Jim Klann
completed the tune which immediately filled the dance floor.
Performing Big Band music requires the highest level of
musicianship and experience. 1st Tenor Saxophonist Joe
Rongone consistently carries out the lead Tenor solos
bringing out the creative flair and stage presence always
required in this position. Joe’s favorite spotlight features
include, GREEN EYES, ALL OF ME, and CANADIAN SUNSET.
Performing Big Band music requires the highest level of
musicianship and experience. 1st Tenor Saxophonist Joe
Rongone consistently carries out the lead Tenor solos
bringing out the creative flair and stage presence always
required in this position. Joe’s favorite spotlight features
include, GREEN EYES, ALL OF ME, and CANADIAN SUNSET.
The Trombone section supports all the other sections
adding a foundation and depth to the band. This essential
component of the band’s sound is founded in the leaders of
so many internationally iconic big bands like Glenn Miller,
Tommy Dorsey and others.

BARBARA ROSENE
Barbara Rosene captivates audiences wherever
and whenever she performs. The Northcoast Big
Band showcases Barbara beautifully, allowing
her to connect with the audience so that each
person in the audience feels like they are being
sung to. With a passion for performing the
wonderful music of the 1930’s and 40’s her vocal
artistic treatment of each tune is magical.
Her crystal clear voice and stage presence brings a professional dimension to the band un-matched by any other professional female vocalist. Her vast library of tunes she sings and enjoys is huge and the band enthusiastically follows her lead,….where-ever she takes the musicality, the tempo of the band and arrangement.

New Year’s Eve is a special celebration that allows the band to
perform a wide variety of music that immerses the audience in all
styles of music, tempos and dancing opportunities. It’s also a centerpiece for showcasing the versatility of the band, performing an
assortment of high energy dancing standards, ballads, waltzes, Latin
favorites and of course to spotlight our gifted and talented vocalists.
